Hi @ware32 ,

I received the same error because I’m running the act runner without Docker. After some time reading the doco, I encountered the following at [Act Runner | Gitea Documentation](https://docs.gitea.com/usage/actions/act-runner#labels:)

- If you want to run jobs in the host directly, you can change it to `ubuntu-22.04:host` or just `ubuntu-22.04`, the `:host` is optional. However, we suggest you to use a special name like `linux_amd64:host` or `windows:host` to avoid misusing it.\*

My fix involved:

- Getting rid of the default label options in the default-generated config.yaml
- Adding a label for local (non-Docker) runs that looks like this:

```auto
  labels:
    - "linux_amd64:host"
```

- Invoking act runner to use the new config.yaml

```auto
./act_runner daemon --config config.yaml
```

Good luck!
Regards,
Kevin

This was exactly my problem. I read and re-read the documentation but did not understand that.

To solve this problem you need to add this option to the container run command : `-v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock `
